WHAT WE DO

We defend the natural world and promote peace by investigating, exposing and confronting environmental abuse, championing environmentally responsible solutions, and advocating for the rights and well-being of all people.

World Peace

Swdish Peace Agency(SPA) is an international organization founded in 2010 and committed to maintaining international peace and security; developing friendly relations among nations; promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights. Due to its unique international character, and the powers vested in its founding Charter, the Organization takes action on a wide range of issues.

We defend the natural world and promote peace by investigating, exposing and confronting environmental abuse, championing environmentally responsible solutions, and advocating for the rights and well-being of all people. We take action only where we and our supporters can make the biggest impact, where people’s lives are most affected, and where environmental risks are most dire.

SPA works to end the death penalty from all over the world, provides education about human trafficking, advocates for immigrants’ rights, and works toward peace and nonviolence. Though we primarily focus on these four core issues, Swedish Peace Agency will continue to partner with others in support of a variety of social justice issues. Additional issues of focus include: Economic Justice, Environmental Justice, Homelessness, Human Rights, Racial Justice, Violence Prevention, and Women’s Concerns.

A world free of nuclear weapons

Nuclear weapons are a continuing and direct threat to all that we, collectively and individually, treasure. They impact us in ways ranging from humanitarian, environmental and economic to medical, generational and spiritual. We ourselves are the solution to the abolition of nuclear weapons which provides an opportunity to transform society, win over violence and establish a culture of peace.

Objectives:

  • To build a broader nuclear abolition constituency by providing the opportunity to learn about nuclear weapons from multiple viewpoints and in line with diverse interests
  • To provide information and perspectives that empower people to take action for "the future we want"
  • To generate popular momentum toward the outlawing of nuclear weapons through a treaty prohibiting nuclear weapons

Minority rights

Swedish Peace Agency working to secure rights for ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities and indigenous people around the world. We work with minority communities through our many and varied programmes, providing education andtraining to enable them to claim their rightful place in society. We carry out media and advocacy work and lobby governments and the United Nations alongside and on behalf of minorities. We produce authoritative publications that are widely valued by academics and journalists, while our pioneering legal cases work is advancing the protection of minorities under international law. Our work, and the evaluation of our efforts, offers overwhelming evidence that the inclusion of minority communities leads to stronger, more cohesive societies. We believe it is clear that exclusion can result in instability, conflict, and in the most extreme cases, genocide.
